Sunday, 17 May 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of Lauritzen Fonden.
For 75 years the foundation has supported the vulnerable groups of society, provided support for the Lauritzen Group employees and focused its funding on projects that seek to enhance Danish enterprise and maritime activities.
The foundations’ charter guides how we distribute our funds. Over the years the charter has of course been interpreted to match the surrounding society, but the wording has been kept unchanged, and today we still focus our efforts on well-being, education and communities, exactly as the charter originally specified. This underlies the foresight and community spirit of those who founded the foundation, the three siblings Ivar and Knud Lauritzen and Anna Lønberg-Holm. From their father, Ditlev Lauritzen (“Konsulen”), the founder of J. Lauritzen, they inherited the social commitment that we still aspire towards today.
However, without our many collaborators, the dedicated fiery souls and not the least you – the Lauritzen Group employees – this social commitment would be impossible, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all! Please know, that you enable us to fulfill the purpose of the foundation’s charter and create better life’s for vulnerable groups in society, particularly children and young people.
Are you curious to know more about our journey since 1945? To mark the anniversary, we’ve gathered some of the milestones and touching moments of our history in this short video:
Covid-19 is affecting our entire civil society these days – and it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. During these testing times foundations are vital for organizations and people who work with vulnerable groups of society. In Lauritzen Fonden we are committed to being a good partner and a source of meaningful support, so that civil society groups can focus on their core work of helping and supporting those in need.
Keep up the good work and thank you for helping us give back to society.
