Gothenburg Logistics Office welcome 100,000 bees to the neighbourhood

On the morning of 6 May the Gothenburg beehive was placed on the roof of DFDS Logistics’ office

More than 100,000 new colleagues have joined DFDS Logistics in Gothenburg and Karlshamn.

The project ‘To BEE in DFDS’ is an initiative by three DFDS colleagues who are also passionate beekeepers: Anna Heissler and Hans Forsberg from DFDS Logistics in Gothenburg and Jörgen Nilsson from DFDS Logistics in Karlshamn. Anna and Hans are beekeepers as a hobby, but for Jörgen it is part of the family business, Ruegarden Farming, outside Karlshamn. No doubt they all know what they are doing and will take very good care of the new hard-working colleagues.

Hans says: “On Monday morning, 6 May, the Gothenburg beehive was placed on the roof of DFDS Logistics’ office at Sydatlanten 10. In every beehive there is a colony of 20,000 – 70,000 bees. The bees started immediately to get acquainted with the surroundings, and the DFDS bees will be a big help in pollinating flowers, fruit trees and bushes in the neighbourhoods of the ports in Gothenburg and Karlshamn. We also hope that there will be some nice, tasty honey after the summer.”

Niklas Andersson, Vice President and Head of BU Nordic and BU Continent, says: “The project ‘To BEE in DFDS’ is just a small and different step in our environmental work. We are constantly striving to decrease emissions and environmental impact from our ships, trucks, forklift trucks and other equipment in yards and ports but small initiatives like this are definitely very welcome too.”
