Jinling ships grow fast

The first of DFDS’ new mega ships in the dry-dock in Jinling. The first section of the main deck has now been placed on the mega block.

This is the most recent picture of the first of our four new 6,700 lane-metre ro-ro vessels being constructed at the Jinling Shipyard a couple of hundred kilometres up the Yangtze River from Shanghai. As the picture shows, the first section of the main deck is now being placed on the mega block, so it starts to look more like a ship.

Thank you to Project Manager Jens Baltsersen and his team in China and Copenhagen for sending regular pictures and letting us follow the construction work.

The mega ro-ros will be delivered from 2019 onwards and are destined to take our customer service in the North Sea to a new level and to cater for the continued strong growth in volumes.
