DFDS collects more than 21 kg in donations for the Yellow Coin Operation

Earlier this year, people in France had the opportunity to give their spare change to make a difference by supporting the Yellow Coin Operation. It is an annual event where the golden euro coins are donated for a good cause. The coins are mainly used by hospitals to build rooms for parents if they want to stay with their children, and for other facilities at the hospitals.

DFDS participated in the event by setting up collection points throughout various DFDS locations in France including offices, terminals and on board the ferries.

From Dieppe to Marseille, the initiative was incredibly popular. Jean-Claude Charlo, Route Manager on the Dieppe – Newhaven route, says: “The success of this operation can be attributed to all the employees in France. In total, more than 21 kg of yellow coins was collected.”

Additionally, on the initiative of Florence Brunel, Acquisition and Brand Marketing Specialist, seven children were invited from Dieppe Day Hospital to collect the donations on board Seven Sisters. Accompanied by eight attendants, the children were able to spend an afternoon on board, sharing a snack with the crew and above all, meeting the Captain on the bridge.

“We had a fabulous time talking and bringing joy to the children, sharing laughs and goodies and maybe even inspired some new vocations! Our warm thanks go to all the crew and the master who greatly contributed to the success of this day,” says Jean-Claude.
