Greetings from sunny Istanbul. It’s my pleasure to write from the newly-formed Business Unit Mediterranean out of Istanbul, where we look forward to hosting many of our new colleagues from DFDS.
From the first day when we met with the DFDS management team for the transaction, followed by the integration kick-off meeting in Copenhagen and up to ‘Day 1’, I am very happy to say that all colleagues working in different work streams have been working in close harmony. We have successfully accomplished all of the ‘Day 1’ tasks and all teams have already defined their respective ‘100-day plans’.
Having all our colleagues from Istanbul at our townhall meeting followed by the traditional iftar dinner in Istanbul with Peder Gellert was very positive and I am happy to say that all of our colleagues at U.N. Ro-Ro have proudly started to use their DFDS business cards, e-mail addresses and signatures. I see that there is now even a stronger confidence amongst colleagues in Turkey about the future of U.N. Ro-Ro becoming part of the DFDS Group.
We are very thankful to the DFDS management team and all other colleagues for having embraced us from the outset. During the work stream processes we observed that there are many similarities in the culture that leads to the DFDS Way in U.N. Ro-Ro as well. Having said this, we also believe that all groups can learn from each other’s experiences and best practices since we have operated in different regions in the past with different market dynamics.
I am looking forward to meeting our new colleagues in Marseille in July. Through combining our forces we will work hard to unleash all of the great potential that is locked in the Mediterranean geography and contribute strongly to the DFDS Shipping Division results in the future. Leaving the official closing behind us we are advancing full steam ahead in the direction of becoming ‘One DFDS’.
