After a series of meetings with the Turkish Seafarers’ Union, a new, collective agreement has been signed for the benefit of our colleagues on board BU Med vessels and at the terminals. The agreement has already come into force and is valid until the end of 2021.
Seran Yüzbaşıoğlu, HR Director, says: “The new collective agreement provides improved working conditions and a number of benefits.
“We took into account the Bearing Survey results while preparing the agreement, as equal opportunities and working conditions are the most significant areas requiring further improvement. With the agreement, I believe that we are going to improve our colleagues’ motivation and job satisfaction.”
Kemal Bozkurt, VP Operations, says: “We experienced a very positive, collaborative negotiation process with the union. The outcome is much more satisfactory for both parties, and we have managed to conclude some of the long-standing issues.
“The terms improved to 2 months on and 1 month off for the officers and 3 months on and 1 month off for the ratings. Additional social benefits and working conditions are now aligned with the rest of DFDS. The wage levels for land-based employees have been standardized.
“I believe these improvements will contribute to increasing yet further the loyalty and dedication of our colleagues. I would like to thank all who participated in the process.”
