Torben Carlsen says welcome to DFDS

  • We move for all to grow

DFDS is a shipping and logistics company based in Copenhagen. We operate across Europe and Turkey and have moved goods and people since 1866.

Transporting everything from families on holiday to goods on road, rail and sea, the dedicated people of DFDS efficiently get the job done every day. We are the world’s largest short sea ferry company with freight, passenger and logistics services across Europe.

We are proud to say that we have managed to ensure strong financial results throughout the last years, which have enabled us to invest in our digital capabilities, shipping capacity, our people and reliability for routes and logistics solutions. We are also leveraging our strong European platform through acquisitions and increasingly assessing future opportunities offered by new business models and technologies.

To grow the company is a big part of the DFDS strategy as it goes hand in hand with our continual desire to create value for our stakeholders. Over the years we have acquired several companies to strengthen our operations.

In below presentation you will be presented to:

  • Map over where we operate
  • Our business
  • Key results
  • DFDS Way
  • Our Strategy ‘Win23’
  • Our climate plan
  • CSR

It may be a lot to grasp at first, but remember that you have a lot of colleagues ready to share their knowledge with you to support your onboarding.

  • Buddy program

We want to facilitate and encourage a smooth integration of our teams, operational practices and systems. Fundamentally, we want to combine the very best of our cultures and ways of working.

Our Buddy System is one way to support such integration. It has been designed to provide a support network for our managers and colleagues who need it, so that they always have someone to reach out to understand how things work and where to go to for help.

So, in the first instance, we have mapped out buddies for our senior leadership group to support the cascade of information and ‘know how’ for the relevant corresponding teams. However, anyone at any level can request a buddy – we do strongly recommend a buddy per team where appropriate.

We are mindful that matching buddies to teams and individuals will be specific to the needs of specific roles/ departments and alongside this, geography and language will play an important part in getting the matching just right.

To manage buddy requests quickly and in the best way, we therefore ask that you email buddy@DFDS.com with

  • Your name and job title
  • The part of the business you work in, including the name of your department and your location
  • A brief description regarding what you do and the teams you interact with

From here we will do our best to match you up swiftly with the most suitable buddy.
